As a young girl, I was influenced by a woman from Elmhurst, Queens, NYC. She always said to me “To Thine Own Self be True”. Many may think it is selfish but maybe it requires a bit more insight. We live in a world of fast-moving parts, more than ever before. This is evident in the quick and far-reaching spread of COVID-19.
With that in mind, there is a second saying, “Home is Where the Heart is”. Your body is the heart of your home. If you do not take care of it, things will try to enter it that you may not have anticipated because you were busy with today’s fast-moving life. When outside influences that we did not make conscious choices to allow influence our life, we may feel out of control. March 2020 through the present may be a time of reflection that allows us the power to choose Self Care, a type of self preservation.
Having a Personal Assistant allows us to simplify our life, so that we can choose what is right for us. Exercise, spirituality, healthy eating, spending time with family and friends. These are all a piece of the pie. Self Care is not selfish and home is a safe place to exercise our self needs. When you care for yourself, you have enough left over to care for others!
